Inclusive Healing: Working with Survivors with Disabilities is a two part series led by Vanessa Sapien where health & healing providers can engage in honest dialogue about systemic oppression, trauma-informed care and how we can collectively transform our approach to healing in a way that centers and supports survivors - especially those most marginalized by our society. The content aims to increase providers' competence and capacity to support disabled sexual trauma survivors in their practice.
In Part 1,Vanessa presents an interactive talk focused on understanding the Disability community from a Cultural Perspective. Drawing from lived experience and first-hand knowledge advocating for people with Disabilities for over twenty years, she'll share insights, knowledge, and recommendations for increasing access and inclusion in healing spaces. In Part 2, Vanessa holds an open question/answer session for participants to address concerns about their skillfulness in working with diverse survivor clients, including those with Disabilities.
